Sound Installation for Forth

Forth is an interactive audio-visual installation by Karolina Sobecka for which I was invited to create an immersive, generative sound environment. A virtual environment was set in a vast ocean traversed endlessly by rowers, building on themes of the perpetual collision of forces both internal and external imposed on the individual. The synthesized audio environment (natural elements such as waves, winds, rowing boats) responds in real time to visitors at the site as well as weather conditions surrounding the site, creating a meeting place of the real and the virtual. This work was installed permanently in Spring of 2011 in the lobby of The University of Central Florida’s Partnership 3 building, the home of the Institute for Simulation and Training. Also collaborating on the project was James George.
